Church of Our Lady, Guelph

We close our anniversary season with a rare performance at the very heart of Guelph, the magnificent Church of our Lady. The splendour of both the music and venue will transport us to another place and time, enveloping all our senses in wonder and delight.

A work of monumental proportions, the Vespers features eight skilled soloists and demands a choir large and skillful enough to cover ten vocal parts, all supported by a full colourful complement of early Baroque strings, cornetti, sackbuts, recorders, and more.

Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610 has gained widespread and enduring popularity with its intriguing mixture of the splendid, the virtuosic, and the intimate, with music that is both sensual and sublime.

Celebrate 30 years of the Guelph Chamber Choir with 400 years of Monteverdi!
